Never underestimate the power of laughter. Its healing properties have been scientifically documented to prove that it releases endorphins and boosts the immune system. Diffusing nervous energy, laughter acts as a safety value blowing off some of the steam of stress. Medical procedures and hospital stays are overwhelming at any age. Being sent from provinces all over China, far away from home, limited visiting hours make the interaction for the children even more significant. Factor in the childhood confusion of being separated from your family and friends and you’ll recognize the need for a little positive intervention.
Laughter should be an integral part of any childhood but it can be easily depleted by illness and tragedy. So we dispatch Magic Teams ready to restore the joy and fun that sustains a child’s spirit.
Balloons, art work and origami, the Magic Team visits regularly 2 hospitals
- Every wednesday in Beijing Children’s Hospital , China’s main children hospital
- bi-monthly program at the Beijing University Hospital , a smaller institution with 4 wards and 132 beds.
We leave their placement entirely up to the medical staff of each hospital who know best where they are needed the most. And sometimes we have guest clowns, and also pay adhoc visits to other hospitals…
And sometimes we combine this program with our gift giving program
